First Look at the Nike Zoom Rev 2017

We have a new Nike silhouette: the Nike Zoom Rev 2017. Is it the new Nike HyperRev for next year? The name would make you think so, but it is a little shorter than normal. Is it a new line altogether? Now that would be confusing, having a Rev and a HyperRev. One thing is for sure: if it is the next HyperRev, it definitely toned down the obnoxious and outlandish looks of the past three years, from the high-cut 2014, then the low cut 2015, and then the alien life form known as the 2016 (best Nike shoe this year).

Compared to them, the Zoom Rev 2017 is, well, boring. Classic, but boring. From what can be seen, the outsole and midsole look to be the most interesting aspects of the shoe. That waaaaaavy sole, taking cues from, well, who knows, will either be freaking awesome or completely trash. It could very easily have the best traction ever, with the waves allowing the shoe to flex more naturally, or it could place the foot off the floor in key places and cause hockey time. And that upper — maybe not Flyknit, but definitely a knitted or engineered mesh.

The lacing system and ankle collar make me think lockdown will be father-of-a-sixteen-year-old-girl-in-summer tight. Lots of lace holes and a higher padding around the Achilles should keep heel movement to a minimum. And there is Zoom, it says it right there on the midsole, although we can’t be sure if it is thick or covers much.

Enjoy the pics, and as always, we will spill more info as it is spilled to us.

  1. I dont like anything but the outsole. Im gonna have to try it tho. The other hyperrevs have been my favorite shoes

LOL!!! Duke with the entertainment as usual. Thanks for the look at the shoe bro. It’s interesting and definitely more toned down than we’ve been seeing.

  3. As a fan of the Hyperrev series (IMHO the 2015 is one of the best shoes I’ve ever played), I REALLY hope this shoe looks deceive us.

  4. Looks basic, but I’d rather have that than a loud design that seems like its trying too hard. Traction looks pretty good to me(tho that Nike sign looks like it was spray painted on). If the zoom stays true to the Hyperrev line, where its in the heel and forefoot and could be actually felt, then this should be alright.

  5. Hopefully this performs well because i don’t wanna be running around in the “over protective step-dad 17’s”

  6. yo, i’ve seen these in person. they do look real bulky tbh! but they do have that large forefoot zoom unit. havent tried them on. and i probably wont be getting them either. but the traction looks absolutely promising

  7. I will give these a shot but the aesthetics are lacking and it’s hard to tell the extent of the Zoom. I thought the first HR was great though I didn’t like the hard heel counter (just a personal issue). The 2015 was meh to me, had its selling points but limited in terms of both arch and ankle support. The 2016 was great though, in fact I am wearing the Skylar Diggins ones right now. Cool appearance and great performance despite some quirks (a little difficult to put on and others have said the strap came loose often, though I didn’t experience that). Hopefully these deliver similar performance, I see some similarities but they are sort of like a toned-down NDESTRUKT model and certainly the outsole is different.
