Devin Booker Shoes: A Full Timeline

Devin Booker Shoes

One thing we all know about Devin Booker shoes is that if he is on the hardwood his sneakers are probably going to be Kobes. That’s just a fact. His propensity to wear Kobes goes back to his rookie year in the league, and even when he doesn’t rock Kobes he rocks shoes that are pretty darn similar.

His main weapons of choice throughout his career have been the Kobe 4s, the Kobe 5s, and the Kobe 6s, and now that he is about to get his own signature line with Nike, I think it’s a safe bet that his signature will be similar. In fact, I’m pretty sure, after researching this article, that the GT Cut 2 was almost DBook’s signature. But more on that later.

Of course, this love for Kobe shoes is because of Booker’s love of Kobe himself. But another key reason is that he, as one of the best shooters in the NBA, needs consistency. All of the shoes that Booker has worn in the NBA offer very similar on-court performance, and it’s clear that Booker appreciates a certain style of hoop shoe.

So let’s jump right in and go over all the Devin Booker shoes we have seen over the years.

Devin Booker Shoes 2023-2024

In 2024 Devin Booker continued his on-court brilliance. He was in the top ten among NBA players in scoring averaging just about 27 points per contest while dishing out 7 assists and dragging down 5 boards as well. This output earned DBook a spot on the 2024 Western Conference All-Star Roster alongside teammate Kevin Durant.

The Suns on the other hand, underperformed. With the acquisition of Bradley Beal in the off-season, most expected the Suns to be clear championship contenders, but that wasn’t the case. On the bright side, in February Nike dropped Booker’s first signature shoe with the brand, the Book1, a hybrid lifestyle/performance model, that was one of the most anticipated releases of the year:

Nike Book 1

The Nike Book 1 will be an awesome hoop shoe for some people. If you like 90’s style basketball shoes, this shoe is a must . The Book 1 has everything you could ask for in terms of simplicity of design, quality of materials, and no-frills on-court performance, AND, surprisingly, it will hold up really well outdoors. The Book 1 proves that lightweight textiles are more of a gimmick than a performance feature and they are widely used as a cost-cutting measure for companies and not to create better products for the consumer. They look good, they play good, and they get the job done. End of story. Read full review. Price $140.

Devin Booker Shoes 2022-2023

Devin Booker is at it once again. Booker continues to prove that he is one of the NBA’s most lethal scorers night in and night out. Booker is currently averaging just about 27 ppg, 5 rpg, and 6 apg. Even when the Phoenix Suns are struggling so mightily as a team, the one constant you can count on is Devin Booker putting on a clinic.

But easily the most interesting bit of Devin Booker sneaker news has been the announcement that came in December of 2022, that Book will be getting his own signature sneaker. The shoe should release in the Summer of 2023, but Nike has announced that it will be launching sometime this year.

Devin Booker actually had everyone guessing at the start of the 2022-23 season when he was the chosen athlete to present the Nike GT Cut 2. Since it was a brand new model no one had seen before, at the time some speculated that it had to be his new signature. But, of course, it wasn’t.

But it would have made sense. The GT Cut line offers Kobe-esque looks and performance so it would make sense that Booker’s signature shoe would be similar to the GT Cut.

Booker had a fantastic 2021-22 season. On an individual level, he was in the MVP conversation. He turned in averages of just about 27 ppg, 5 rpg, and 5 apg, was named to that year’s All-Star Team, to that year’s All-NBA 1st Team, and ended up 4th in the MVP race.

His performance lifted the Phoenix Suns to the top of the Western Conference (and the whole NBA for that matter), finishing with 64 wins and 18 losses. The Suns entered the playoffs as serious contenders to take home an NBA title, having gone to the finals the year before. They would ultimately come up short, losing in the second round to Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

Book rocked his usual lineup of Kobes that season: Kobe 4s, Kobe 5s, and Kobe 6s in Phoenix Suns-inspired PE colorways. In particular, his collection of Kobe 6s was particularly on point.

Devin Booker Shoes 2020-2021

The 2020-21 season was probably Booker’s best in the NBA to date. On an individual level, he had better seasons, but all around, this had to be his best. He would end up averaging 26 ppg, 4 rpg, and 4 apg and was named to the All-Star Team, but the Suns were on fire (pun intended) that year.

The Phoenix Suns finished the season as the second-best team in the Western Conference with 51 wins and 21 losses, but they entered the playoffs on a mission. The Suns made it all the way to the Finals, steamrolling the Lakers, Nuggets, and Clippers on their way to the Finals where they would face Giannis Antentokoumpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Booker averaged over 27 points, with almost five assists and six boards. The Suns would fall to the Bucks in 6 games however, and would go home empty-handed.

We saw Devin Booker play in his usual array of Kobes (4s,5s, and 6s), but he also did pull out an incredible colorway of the Kobe AD that season. His collection of 6s this season was particularly great.

One cool sneaker detail of Booker’s finals run was that he played in the same purple Kobe 4s every game. More evidence of his need for consistency, which I would argue borders on superstition.

Devin Booker Shoes 2019-2020

The 2019-20 season was relatively uneventful for Booker, as uneventful as a 27 ppg, 7 apg, and 4 rpg season with an All-Star selection can be. The Suns did not make the playoffs, and Booker wore his usual lineup of Kobes.

One interesting detail is that he broke out a purple pair of Kobe 1s to try and defend his three-point contest title, the same pair of Kobe 1s he wore the year before. This is interesting because it further proves that Booker is a superstitious dude.

Devin Booker Shoes 2015-2019

Devin Booker’s first years in the league were pretty irrelevant on the court, even though Devin played extremely well. In these years, he averaged 21 ppg, 4 rpg, and 4 apg, and then during the 2018-19 season he broke out with 27 ppg, 7 apg, and 4 rpg.

Over that time, the Suns were mediocre at best, and Booker didn’t get much individual recognition. Although he did win the NBA three-point contest and dropped 71 points on the Boston Celtics, so there is that.

During that time, Booker played in a bunch of different Nike models. Kobe’s were a go-to for him, but he did sprinkle in some other similar performance models like the Nike 2016, 2017 and 2018 Hyperdunk Lows, several slick Kyrie Low 3 PEs, and PE versions of the Nike Zoom Rev, among others.

His Kobe rotation was also quite different. During those years, he would reach for Kobe AD, Kobe 9s, Kobe 10s, Kobe 11s, and Kobe 1s primarily. For all these models, he got some really excellent PE colorways

All of the models he wore over that time period were similar, preferring agile, reactive, and stable shoes over models with more plush cushioning, for example. This would make sense for a shifty shooter like Booker, who needs to be nimble on the court and consistent with his technique.

That pretty much covers all the Devin Booker shoes to date. Now all that’s left is to see what his signature will be like. Odds are that it will be the most Kobe adjacent we’ve seen since the Nike Zoom GT Cut 1.
