The Verge just did a piece on the brand new Wilson X Connected Basketball. The ball supposedly tells you whether you hit or missed a shot without any additional tech like an attachment to the rim or net. The ball connects to your phone via bluetooth but after testing it doesn’t seem like it’s all it’s cracked up to be. It is supposed to calculate your shooting percentage as well as many other stats, and can do so in-game, but the price is a bit staggering at $199.
Check out the video below and let me know if you think this is the future as well as whether you’d purchase this tech. If you want the full review of the Wilson X Connected Basketball, head to The Verge here.

uh, i’d be amazed if that asian dude actually could get a shot off in a pickup game, that is the worst shooting form i have seen in a long time….at least the white dude shoots with one hand and doesn’t sling the ball at the rim
but anyway, i don’t understand what’s going on with this ball, does it help you with backspin, finger placement, arc, or what?
if all it does is count your misses and your makes, can’t you just improve by only counting your makes when you’re shooting on your own, and setting a goal, like not leaving the gym until you make 50 threes from different spots?
I agree with you, but I believe some of your questions are addressed in The Verge’s full length review. The ball seems to do very little.
I would not let a $200 ball touch the ground outside.
I like the 94Fifty smart ball. It can tell you backspin, shot arc & shot speed. Plus, dribbling power & speed.
Gimmick!
