Muhammad Ali. He is known as the greatest of all-time, the original GOAT.
Born Cassius Clay — “his mama named him Clay, I’m-a call him CLAY!” — Ali is one of the world’s biggest champions for civil and human rights in modern history. Ali rose beyond the sport of boxing when he chose to stand up for his civil liberties and challenge the United States government by not fighting in the Vietnam War. Moreover, he stood up for his own faith practices. Simply put, Ali is a symbol for fearlessness and for more than 50 years has been a hero to generations of people all around the world — not just in sports, but in life.
So, it should be no surprise that the man who made “The Greatest” a cultural statement on fame and performance still relevant is showing up in places that hold significant weight today. Today, we have socks making statements, and the Stance x Muhammad Ali sock remembers one of the more colorful statements that Ali himself made.
“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” is a motto so iconic that even children today most identify it with the man — even without having seen him fight (or talk), and it’s fitting that hits the feet — the statement highlighting Ali’s legendary quickness.
