Who knew that “Zappos Signs…” would be a headline in 2016?! I believe many in the sneaker community have feelings towards Zappos — high markup, small selection of dope sh*t — but few were expecting them to sign its first-ever shoe and apparel deal with Ronnie Stanley, an offensive tackle and NFL prospect.
The deal is very interesting because Stanley will get to decide what brand’s gear to wear. According to ESPN, he will be able to change brands and models every week or even in-game. However, if he wants to leave a logo showing on the field of play, he would only be able to do so with Nike, Under Armour, and adidas — brands that have deals with the NFL. Stanley wore Under Armour at Notre Dame.
ESPN’s Darren Rovell wrote a great piece about the story. To read it, click here.
I LIKE this! Then we will get to see what really and truly works for this athlete, because regardless of what he wears, he is getting PAID. lol Now we need to get us a player on the NBA platform to do this, a GOOD to GREAT player, and this hoops sneaker thing could be turned upside down. Can you imagine if Manu’s Nike shoe blew out again, then he would go back to the locker and pull out of pair of Reebok’s and finish the game without a hitch?! lololol
So basically he can wear what ever brand he wants as long as the logo isn’t showing?
“If he wants to leave a logo showing on the field of play, he would only be able to do so with Nike, Under Armour, and adidas”
This is awesome! This is the kind of deal I would love as an athlete,as I’m getting paid off wear clothing, yet no stuck to a certain brand…this is sweet!
