The team at FastPass has once again put a sneaker on the chopping block to find out exactly what’s in it. This time, it’s the Nike Zoom LeBron Ambassador 10.
When FastPass deconstructed the LeBron Ambassador 9 it discovered that the heel Zoom unit had shrunk from 13.77mm thick in the Ambassador 8 to 10.6mm. However, the forefoot Zoom unit was beefed up from 7mm in the Ambassador 8 to 8.35mm in the Ambassador 9.
In the Ambassador 10, the forefoot Zoom unit is now 8.50mm thick, a small improvement, while the heel Zoom unit has been increased to 11.16mm thick (still far off from the huge unit in the Ambassador 8).
Sadly, the forefoot unit is now smaller overall at just 77.8mm across (the Ambassador 9 featured a wide 89.6mm wide unit). However, the heel unit has remained nearly identical in footprint, it has only changed in thickness.
Besides for the change in cushioning, the removal of Flywire, and the addition of a strap, the LeBron Ambassador 10 remains fairly unchanged from the Ambassador 9; it uses the same midfoot shank, a very similar outsole, and is priced identically to the Ambassador 9. For a comparison between the two models, scroll down.
