According to Cope, Barcelona star Lionel Messi, winner of five Golden Balls, signed a lifetime deal with adidas on Friday.
Messi has been a long time Three Stripes brand athlete; he first signed with adidas back in 2006. Now, the new contract will make the Argentina legend an adidas athlete until the end of his career.
He announced the new deal on Facebook. It has since garnered almost 800,000 reactions on the social networking site. Specific details about the contract, like how much the new deal will pay, are still unknown — but we’re pretty sure Messi will be doing very well for a long time.
His club contract situation, which will end in 2018, is still up in the air. Negotiations with the Barcelona club saw some difficulties in December but the club and athlete will probably come to an agreement this summer.
