Jordan Brand has revamped Russell Westbrook’s signature shoe with the release of the Jordan Why Not Zero.2 SE.
Making the shoe lighter was the SE’s primary focus and the team at Jordan Brand were able to shave off about an ounce from the original shoes overall weight. I don’t feel weight is as much of an issue as some make it out to be, but having a lighter shoe does have a placebo effect for the wearer. So, if it works for you then that’s all that really matters.
The shoe itself features most of the same primary tech features. Unlocked Zoom Air in the forefoot. Traction pattern remains the same. And the overall lacing and support features haven’t changed either.
What has changed are the materials, the removal of the outer “cloak” — as I call it — and the introduction of round cutouts within the rubber outsole that is supposed to help with letting the rubber stretch a bit more in hopes it prevents tearing the rubber.
I will do my best to get a performance review on the Jordan Why Not Zero.2 SE taken care of, however, I have my plate full with current models, upcoming models, and past models that I still haven’t had the time to finish up since recovering from my calf tear. Fingers crossed I’ll be able to get it all taken care of.
