Back in a time when basketball players were wearing predominantly canvas based sneakers, the Converse Pro Leather helped usher in a new era of basketball shoes that featured premium leather builds with proven design features such as the blucher lacing enclosure.
A rubber cupsole makes up the tooling. It’s thick and heavy — much different than something you’d see on the adidas Pro Model (Superstar) or the Air Jordan 1. It’s a bit closer in feel to an Air Force 1, but even then, these are quite heavy in comparison.
Dr. J made the shoe famous, but a young Michael Jordan also loved wearing the shoe and hit the NCAA Championship final shot to solidify UNC’s championship season.
