2016 and 2017 are seeing some of the most interesting cleat collabs in recent history. The latest partnership is between adidas Football and rap legend Snoop Dogg for this 2017 adizero 5-Star 6.0.
“Some of my main passions are music, fashion, football and helping the next generation of kids for the future,” said Coach Snoop. “Working with adidas Football to design a cleat that blends all these elements was a no-brainer and our new cleats showcase how we’re evolving the cleat game and truly fusing sports and culture.”

After releasing the ‘Money Pack’ for the adidas Football 7v7 National Championship, this special edition cleat was unveiled. A true collaboration, this cleat was designed in part by Snoop Dogg, adidas’ Director of Football Development, and echo his song “Suited N Booted.”
The Snoop cleats take visual elements from the lavish tailored suits, pocket squares, and socks athletes wear as they enter stadiums “suited and booted” for game day. The 2017 adizero 5-Star 6.0 Snoop cleat is inspired by Snoop’s dress shoes and features a gator-like material with a colorway that comes from the artist’s white and gold jewelry collection.
Moreover, according to adidas, Snoop worked with adidas designers to create a custom lace jewel that pays homage to the hood ornaments flaunted by luxury cars. Even the laces have gold flecks to match the cleat’s gold plates. Notable details include “Suited” and “Booted” on the midfoot bands while Snoop’s lyrics show up on the sockliner — “The cleanest, the meanest, I know that’s right. And don’t get to close cause these gators bite.”

One thing people may not know about the Dogg is how much he gives back. The Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL), created over a decade ago in Los Angeles by the artist, has helped thousands of kids to become better citizens on and off the field. It provides a positive environment for young gridiron gladiators to learn the skills required to excel in life. Each box of 2017 adizero 5-Star 6.0 Snoop cleats will contain a note carrying the mantra Snoop’s youth football teams chant before every game, drafted by Snoop himself.
