Nike KD 14
The Nike KD 14 is a step up from the Nike KD 13. The issues that were obvious with the previous model were fixed and some good parts were made even better. This was many people’s go to hoop shoe in 2021.
The Nike KD 14’s traction was both thick and grippy. If you play outdoors, the rubber used for this shoe is thick enough to last a while, even though it’s not that hard. On most court conditions indoors, it will bite the floor and you will stop on a dime. It is reliable and can handle all courts and movements.
Cushlon with a full-length Zoom Air Strobel is the setup used for the Nike KD 14 and no one is complaining. It feels like a springy marshmallow. The springy effect comes from that Zoom Air unit that covers you apply pressure. The plush, marshmallow-like feel comes from the soft Cushlon foam. It’s a versatile combination that will work for most positions.
The materials aren’t special, but get the job done. It’s all synthetic and involves two layers for extra durability. Still, it isn’t that long-lasting as most players would like. The strap is also almost pointless and gets in the way sometimes.
Support is great with a wide base and a midfoot shank plate that makes sure you don’t overtwist your feet while playing. The plastic side wall reinforces the Cushlon while also keeping you on the footbed. Everything works in harmony to let you play in peace.
