World Balance Bank Shot Performance Review

Pinoy Pride!

Here we go with the Performance Review on the World Balance Bank Shot!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERATraction: Traction was very adequate, the toe and medial front (ball of the foot) of the shoe is covered in a modified herringbone (much like a wave) pattern for quick jabs and lightning quick steps, while the lateral outrigger all the way down to the heel area is a sort of story telling pattern, this is a good setup for guards who are always on their toes. The material in the front half of the shoe is pliable and grips nicely on court, the story telling pattern however gathers a bit of dust and loses traction especially on the cement courts we have here.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACushion: Cushion is available in heaps thanks to the foam setup and patented Terra Soft Insole Tech, it’s nice and dense and provides a good ride without being too hard or squishy. Again this is geared more towards smaller players who need a low slung ride but still needs that extra bit of comfort.

Materials: The Bank Shot has som pretty good materials on them, a nice little mix of synthetic and patent leathers give a feeling of luxury while the carbon fiber like pattern on the sides give a sense of purpose to the shoe. The fit is a bit sloppy so I recommend that you drop down half a size in order to get that contained fit. One minor niggle for me is that the materials are too soft, a little bit more stiffness might help the shoe retain it’s shape better.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAVentilation: This shoe provides adequate ventilation although it initially doesn’t look the part, all the vents are placed in perforations on the medial side of the shoe, the tongue and mesh bootie, this will definitely keep your feet dry during the game.

Fit / Support: Support is probably this shoe’s weakest attribute, the sloppy fit and the materials being a tad too soft, this could have been a better performer had the materials been a bit more supportive and the fit being more contained and not too tight. Also the heel notch kind of digs in to my achilles tendon so now I have some tendonitis that I have to deal with.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOverall: This is a great choice for ballers on a budget, it as the potential to be a much better shoe than it already is, it just needs that extra bit of support and better fit. All in all, if you aren’t snobbish about brands this is definitely a must have and for less than $70 how can you go wrong?

These retail for about Php 2399.00 or around US $55.00 at local department stores and athletic stores

Big Thanks to  World Balance Philippines for the shoes and Justin Alonte for the video

    1. You guys do realize not every article on this site is Nightwing right? He has other people who write articles here from time to time.

    2. he posted it because it is a review on a basketball shoe also, read the name of author, it does not say nightwing but it says Ken. He probably didnt post it either, he approved it or something.

  1. nice review, yeah the shoes are very affordable. but, kids in the Philippines are all about the trend, even if they couldn’t afford original nikes, adidas. these kids end up buying counterfeit shoes of nike, adidas from shops & online just for the sake of looking cool.

    1. I wouldn’t mind a different brand of shoe with a different logo, materials and pattern on it.

but a counterfeit is a different story and pretty much stealing in it’s very definition. despite the market for these fakes, pure counterfeit for the sake of selling the product isn’t good at all and pretty much destroy enterprises and innovators. just imagine if everyone would just copy everything or let’s say someone copies your product and sells them under your behalf and reputation by the brand isn’t good. sorry but I just don’t support thieves.

      1. thats not the local mentality here.. i can attest to Devinns statement. kids would rather be seen wearing fake jordans than buy original Grosby/Accel (although they rip designs off)/WB

  2. good vid, just saying you should have a bit of some on court action with the shoes, but still a good and simple review.

  3. aesthetics and traction pattern looks better than the Anta RR but the materials, cushion, built and fit don’t look that good at all especially they cost the same as the Antas.

good looking shoe but no bite.

  4. This is a much better option than buying class A’s from cartimar, at least you would not get a bad sprain( don’t buy fake LBJ11s)

  5. I do think the materials should have been better but it is priced very low but i think PEAK shoes are better and they are in the same price range..

    1. found a peak rip off of the spawn and xx8 combined. looked cool from afar though. i almost bought the pink one in olympic village. really looked cool untill i remembered panelling looked like the spawns but with a zipper. outsole and cushion was from the tp1 i think. but really looked cool at first sight. srp php 4595. saw a knicks/okc cw of it in olympic world robinsons galeria at 3995. older cw they said thats why its cheaper.

for those looking for under armour shoes in the ph, olympic world has them. go ahead and empty the shelves so they could restock with more. they some old 2011 to 2012 models

          1. Its not totally a rippoff but you can see where they got the design. It really looks good though. Im not saying its bad but it does look good. If you look closely, take off the zipper, look at where the mesh and fuse are and the toe box, and the midsole design. Definitley spawn. As with the new models they make too, they take cues from nike as well. Not entirely identical. If it was on sale i would buy them. But at 4595 and it reminded me of the spawn, pass untill it make 3200 and i’ll cop.

  6. Sir what foam did they use for cushioning? EVA? How was it? Cushioning and traction are the two things i look for in a basketball shoe. Hope you will answer, thank you sir!!
