The Nike React Hyperdunk 2017 Low Deconstructed

It was only a matter of time before the team at FastPass took its bandsaw to the Nike React Hyperdunk 2017 Low.

While this latest deconstruction doesn’t bring any new or surprising information, it does show what exactly you’re buying when you shell out the $130 for this sneaker.

It should be noted that this is an overseas version of the sneaker so it comes with an XDR outsole.

As you can see in the image above, FastPass compared the Hyperdunk 2017 High, the Hyperdunk 2017 Flyknit, and the Hyperdunk 2017 Low, and it confirmed that all three share the same tooling.

FastPass even compared the density of React foam in all three silhouettes to the density of Lunar foam; Lunar was much less dense at about 0.106 g/cm3 compared to React’s average density of about 0.187 g/cm3 . Sroll down to the bottom of this piece for the density comparison.

  1. Excellent, are there any stats on how the density of Podulon(.VI), or Podulite(.VII) was? Because REACT kind of feels like the older CP3’s.

  2. I’ve tried playing in the Hyperdunk 2017 Low, and it is one of the best shoes I’ve played with.

Traction – best traction I have received in quite a long time. My only comparison now is the Superfly 4 PO and the Crazy Explosive Low PK 2016, and I can say that it is better than both.

Cushion – The React foam cannot be felt at all, but we know that already. Moving on.

Fit – For a wide footer like me, the fit is snug but not uncomfortable. Best fitting shoe I have worn since the Kobe V. That ankle foam is something else.

Support – lack of midfoot shank means that the shoe does not offer much torsional support, which is a problem for me and my arches. However, the fit, combined with the outrigger like design makes for a very stable shoe even when posting up. It should be noted that the shoe is not easily bendable at the middle despite the lack of a midfoot shank.

Bottom line, the shoe reminds me of a firmer Kobe V with a weave upper and better traction. One of the best shoes I’ve played with in a while.
