Despite how much they cost me, I’m really happy that I went and bought a pair of fresh Air Jordan XX’s from the recent Retro line because those things are really fun to play in when the IPS System isn’t rock hard.
The ‘Laser’ edition of the shoe received a premium label which came with a price markup, but these – while still priced higher than their original $175 – won’t cost you quite as much. These will be available next weekend, March 14th, for $230 – which is still pretty pricey.
Stay tuned for their performance review and feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
The traction from the protruding pods and raised sole was horrible when you moved at an angle where they both touched the court. The velcro wore out after a month and the strap would flap around. The fit was great. You could really feel the pods under your feet. I also had the mid cut version in all white and the leather was highly durable and didn’t show much wear.
The poor mans XX was the Jordan’s Icons. That shoe has the same mid and outsole. I have the blue patent In 11.5 and the red patent in 11 and in the size 11 the podulon pods were sitting right under all my pressure points and are very comfortable with a balanced responsiveness to them. I am calling these out because although the XX is a nice shoe, that a kankle strap is an awkward feeling just on hanging on your leg.
I agree about that strap. I always used that velcro tab on the front that made the shoe feel like a mid top, but looked awkward (although when I am playing, I usually don’t give a darn how the shoe looks as long as it performs).
I never owned these, but I’m checking for them next week. Is that patent leather on the upper?
