This sneaker is inspired by Wolfgang Johann von Goethe, one of the greatest poets of our time, and the Goethe Museum in Düsseldorf, located right next to the Afew store.
German sneaker shop Afew has teamed up with Saucony to create a Shadow Master 5000 sneaker that pays homage to the storied poet and, with its rose and grey colors, to the 1763-built museum/castle and its architecture.
With over 50,000 pieces of his art, the Goethe Museum in Düsseldorf holds nearly 50,000 pieces of von Goethe’s art and is the largest exhibition of his work today.
The low profile-silhouette features an upper constructed of premium pig suede, however some hits of a rigged leather with perforated detail are also implemented. The sneaker sits atop an EVA midsole and a XT-600 triangular lug rubber traction outsole. Bits of Goethe’s poetry can be found printed on the heels, laces, and inner linings of the shoe. Stamped on the tongue is a paper patch silhouette of Goethe himself.
To complete this special release, all pairs will come in a special packaging featuring three pairs of laces, an exclusive bookmark, and a booklet with additional information about the collaboration.
Previously only released at the Afew store, the Afew x Saucony Shadow Master 5000 ‘Goethe’ will see a global release come October 28 at select retailers so stay tuned to boutiques like Hanon, Titolo, etc. The shoes will be priced at $175.
