adidas recently released the all-new AlphaBOOST and we have a detailed look and review.
Taking its popular adidas AlphaBouce runner and adding a Boost midsole would’ve been easy, but adidas made some changes to the model that gives the AlphaBoost an interesting twist.
Originally designed as a running shoe, adidas claims the AlphaBoost is ideal for explosive drills and speed training. While they’ve added a Boost midsole, the setup isn’t exactly what you see. It’s a dual-density Boost setup, which may be a first for the brand. They’ve added stability pods into the midsole to offer more support than traditional Boost midsoles do.
Because of this change, the Boost feeling isn’t as “Boost-y” as some may like, but support and impact protection look to be the main focus with this particular setup.
The materials are a much lighter version of Forged Mesh which help offset the heavier midsole setup.
Everything sits atop a beefed up Continental rubber outsole that is said to provide traction in wet and dry conditions.
If the adidas AlphaBoost sounds like it may be an ideal running/training shoe for you, they can be found now at Dick’s Sporting Goods for $150.
These are intriguing shoes. I really like how adidas firmed up the boost and increased the stability on the UB 19s. Is the boost in alphaboost similar in feel?
Boost is dead like it’s no longer going to be used by Adidas, or it’s dead in that it’s not popular anymore?
I love it on lifestyle and casual shoes but it’s always been a bit too soft for me for basketball or running. I feel like I’m too heavy and I sink through it, if that makes any sense. Bounce has always felt a little better to me.
