An Official Look at the Nike Hypershift

One of Nike Basketball’s upcoming models is the Hypershift, and we believe these may be a sleeper hit among hoopers.

They share a similar build to the Nike KD 9 as they sport a one-piece upper, but these are constructed out of mesh and Fuse rather than Flyknit. Flywire lacing is clearly seen, but there are additional eyelets within the Fuse eyestay for added structure. The ankle Flyknit loop looks like it may be connected to the heel which would presumably provide the wearer with pretty solid heel lockdown. Cushion is still unknown, but they sport “Nike Zoom” on the lateral outsole which means Zoom Air is used in some capacity — whether that be a drop-in midsole or not has yet to be confirmed.

You can get an official look at the Nike Hypershift in two upcoming colorways below, and be on the lookout for these to become available soon.

  1. I really like the minimal approach nike is taking with its upcoming models like hyperlive 2, hypershift, hyperdunk 2016, soldier 10 etc. It’ll be really interning to see how they all perform and if the zoom is up to par now

  2. If they only give us one zoom unit I hope it’s in the heel. That’s really the safest place to put it, honestly.

    1. lol..sorry but I want mine in the forefoot. And I hope it is a drop-insole since I have a full zoom insole I can slap in. But I am begging for a full-length zoom. But by the looks of the traction you can kind of see an outline in the front.

      1. Yeah, I’m thinking its gonna be in the forefoot, but its that small rectangle zoom unit they like to use(I call it “hyperfuse zoom”) that you can kinda sorta feel sometimes. That ain’t gonna cut it for me anymore.

  3. sorry for bursting other people’s bubble but these are more like $50 shoes. I have seen the recent Nike shoe releases with the same concept and they look and feel like crap in general. you’d get a better deal and shoes selecting other brands.

    1. Seriously, you’re right on man..these need to retail at $50-60, unless they have a full-length zoom.
And who are we kidding, are we still calling the zoom a “technology”??? Come on, this tech is like 20+ years old now.. no one can tell me that it is significantly more expensive to produce a full-zoom instead of a small-ass-rectangular piece in today’s economy and at Nike’s production volumes. Are those zoom-materials (“fabric”, plastic, and air) a scarce in today’s world? I understand the consumers’ perceived value very well, but because Nike is acting so damn ignorant to the actual world, we now have adidas resurrecting, UA having top sellers, and young brands such as BrandBlack getting cutting a piece of the pie… And rightfully so. RIP Nike, if you continue down this lane..

      1. I think your view is a little skewed. Nike could put full length zoom, and flyknit, and all other kinds of tech in budget shoes.. but they don’t due to the need from a business perspective to create differentiated tiers of shoes with differentiated pricing. If you could get everything you wanted in a budget shoe, the incentives to spend more on shoes with higher profit margins would be minimized, or removed completely. And Nike budget shoes still kick UA and Adidas’s ass. The bottom level shoes from those brands are atrocious, and not even worthy of making it onto shoe sites.. go into Kohl’s and see what kind of trash UA has represented there.
