Tokyo’s Challenger Links with DC Shoes to Unveil the Evan Hi Zero Challenger

Tokyo-based apparel brand Challenger has collaborated on one of DC Shoes’ most iconic silhouettes to create the Evan Hi Zero Challenger.

Today, SoCal-based DC Shoes unveiled this limited edition collaboration; it’s inspired by the military and designed for both skateboarding and everyday wear.

“DC Shoes supported me and my career in my early 20s, and that experience made me who I am today and because of that, collaborating with them was an authentic, organic fit for me,” said Satoru Taguchi, founder of Challenger, in a statement. “I wanted to [make] a shoe that I’d never seen before that I wanted to wear and I think we’ve accomplished that together.”

The DC Evan Hi Zero Challenger showcases the craftsmanship and story-telling Challenger is known for. The sneaker sports a deconstructed silhouette and is constructed from canvas with full grain leather accents.

According to DC Shoes, the sneaker is fortified with IMPACT-I technology for shock absorption and comfort. A rubber toecap should also improve durability.

“We were eager to work with Challenger, who we admire greatly for the undeniable quality and craftsmanship of their product,” said Mike Jensen, DC Shoes Inc.’s Global GM, in a statement. “As a professional skateboarder and friend of the brand, we felt Satoru was the perfect partner to amplify DC’s authentic design position in skate to a broader street lifestyle audience, globally.”

The Challenger x DC Shoes Evan Hi Zero Challenger retails for $80 and is available in-store only at Commonwealth LA beginning today. An exclusive launch event will be held at the DTLA boutique tonight. The sneaker will also release in Tokyo on April 22.
