Heavy, bulky and extremely high… despite all of that, these are one of the best basketball shoes I’ve ever played in.
Ventilation doesn’t look like much but it’s not half bad. While they aren’t as breathable as some sneakers currently available, they offer above average ventilation and seeing as how the design is similar to what you would have seen on store shelves in the early 90’s… that’s pretty impressive.
What is really cool is how the ventilation along the mid panel offers the wearer a dual purpose. The second row of perforations can be used as a secondary lacing system in the event that you feel a more snug fit is in order. I’ve been using them as you see them here in the image and they have been working just fine for me personally. Heel lock down could be a bit better so with that being said, I’d recommend lacing them up as you see them here then use the last hole on the second row – the one closest to the ankle – for additional lock down.
I’d love to see new models from Li-Ning with a slightly more modern design. Lower profile – a nice low top model would be nice – and slightly less bulky. If they are able to adequately manufacture a performance basketball shoe that plays this good with so much bulk to it then I can only imagine how much better a more modern design would play with the same technology.
Stay tuned as the full performance review should be available soon.
