The Nike Air Raid Retro, last seen in 2014, is Tinker Hatfield’s attempt at building the greatest outdoor basketball shoe ever. Originally released in 1992, the Air Raid Retro brings with it a ton of nostalgia and has a lot of sneakerheads remembering their glory days wearing their pairs on the blacktop.
What’s in the video?
In the video, Chris provides detailed information from all the usual categories, providing the in depth information you need. He supplies expert level opinions on the materials, cushioning, traction, support, and fit. Here’s some of what he discusses:
- Inverted traction
- Polyurethane midsole
- Flex grooves that work
- Air sole unit in the heel
- Leather and textile build
- No breathability
- Durability focused
- Dual straps
- Puffy tongue
- Sizing recommendations
And as an added bonus, Mrs. Wing and Chris discuss how old Nike basketball outsoles seem to squigee, bulldoze, or sweep away the debris and dust while fiercely gripping the court. Also, the Air Raid Retro may look boxy or bulky but they’ll get plenty of compliments and stares from other players.
