MEDICOM TOY Has a Special Nike SB Dunk Low for Black Friday
Nike SBs have been back in full force in 2017, although people may not have noticed until the Pigeon x Nike SB collaboration. MEDICOM TOY, a Japanese toy manufacturer, is collaborating with the Swoosh once again for a new Nike SB Dunk.
The original Nike x MEDICOM TOY collaboration released in 2004, but the second, which released in 2005, featured a grey and black denim upper. The newest Nike SB Dunk Low Elite ‘Be@rbrick’ is a remake of the 2005 Nike SB x MEDICOM TOY collaboration that uses similar design cues and materials.
“Whenever we approached somebody to collaborate, we considered if it was going to stand the test of time. We asked ourselves, ‘Does the prospective partner have something that really speaks to a certain generation or a certain subculture that we can go back to?’” sad Jesse Leyva, Senior Creative Director for Nike SB, in a statement. “Medicom is just part of the fabric of Harajuku. When you look at Harajuku culture, there’s streetwear. Then within streetwear, there’s art, music, sneakers and toys. It all goes hand-in-hand.”
Dressed once again in medium denim, the Nike SB Zoom Dunk Low Elite ‘Be@rbrick’ will release this Black Friday, November 24, for a retail price of $115 USD on SNKRS and at select Nike SB retailers.
