It looks like JJ Watt has taken a “Why Not?” approach to gifting servicemen with sneakers.
While promoting the latest colorway of his Reebok signature trainer, the JJ Trainer 2.0, Houston Texans defensive star JJ Watt found himself doing another great deed in equipping servicemen in Afghanistan with the sneaker.
A fan currently on deployment inquired about shipping availability of the sneaker, and while there seemed to be some obstacles in shipping to Afghanistan, it seemed Watt intended to make it easy by cutting the middleman out and sending a pair directly to the service member.
The reply from Watt garnered the attention of the Twitter community, with users wondering if the soldier would actually be charged for the shoes and how many in deployment deserve a pair of free kicks. In an “enough said” type of fashion, Watt responded with this:
And there you have it. JJ does what JJ does and it looks like an entire unit should be expecting some new trainers soon. Kudos to Watt, the Reebok family, and of course the men and women of service both stateside and across the globe.
One unit may be a small sample, and a pair of sneakers may be minute in the grand scheme of things, but it’s nice to see a move like this made with little to no resistance.
