It’s almost a given when you know the history – Reebok hit its greatest heights in the mid-80s, riding the high of aerobics for women of all ages to become the number one sneaker company in the world for a time. Married to the Mob is a New York streetwear brand that has long been a proponent of strong and modern women. Now, they come together to collaborate on one of the best retro silhouettes of the year – the Reebok Aztrek.
Falling under the 3:AM heading (As a holy hour of creativity, 3:AM gives dedicated artists a moment of quiet reflection, as they tirelessly work to generate ground-breaking ideas and designs – per Reebok), the Aztrek x Married to the Mob shoe features a leather and mesh upper, dropping the suede found on the other Aztrek colorways for full-grain overlays. The cushioning comes from the EVA midsole with Hexalite inserts under the heel. The classic Reebok logo is replaced by the Married to the Mob name, making sure we all know these aren’t your regular Aztrek.
Also dropping in the capsule are clothing pieces, including velour tracksuits, nylon tops and bottoms, and two dresses utilizing the Reebok Classics logo.
Leah McSweeney, the founder of Married to the Mob, saw this opportunity to collaborate with Reebok as a chance to update classic styles with modern lines, making this the first 3:AM drop dedicated to females.
“I’ve always had one ambition: to create contemporary streetwear for women, by women. With my new Reebok collection, we have designed pieces that pay tribute to Classic silhouettes, while truly speaking to the modern female aesthetic. As Married to the Mob reaches its 15th birthday, I am thrilled to work with Reebok again just in time to celebrate,” she said.
The collection drops today, April 18, 2019, on Reebok.com. The Aztrek is priced at $120 USD with the clothing ranging from $35 for the t-shirts to $90 for the track jacket.
