The New adidas AlphaBounce RC Debuts Overseas

The adidas AlphaBounce RC is the German brand’s latest version of the popular Bounce-equipped runner.

The RC is a slight redesign of the original; it utilizes a larger heel counter, one that extends further on both sides of the ankle, that echoes the new eyestays. It adds the Three Stripe branding to the upper which has also been reworked — the version pictured here flaunts a sleeker heather grey look instead of the traditional mesh. The midsole is only slightly altered visually, but the shoe is 10g lighter than the new 2017 AlphaBounce model, pictured below, which just became available on the US adidas site.

Both versions still use adidas’ seamless FORGEDMESH upper that is supportive and stretchy to aid with custom fit. The RC carries over the ADIWEAR outsole for durability.

These are not available in the States yet but hopefully, they arrive Stateside soon. Overseas, on adidas’ Portugal site, the AlphaBounce RC is priced at 79,95 (approx. $85 USD), beneath what the new regular AlphaBounce is listed for — 109,95 (approx. $116).

Thoughts on the AlphaBounce RC? If you’ve already picked up this version, how do you feel about the differences? Let us know.

  1. I’ve wondered what RC stands for ..tried looking it up, a mana bounce had one too.. Remote control? Recreation? ??

  2. Just a beautiful shoe that packs a punch in performance (according to others) and aesthetics. I need to get my hands on a pair of the Alphabounce soon.

  3. Was able to get a pair here in the Philippines. Got the black version of the RC. There’s also an EM version as well with a lighter mesh material. Have to say that the bounce feels pretty good and the forged mesh feels great. I don’t know if it’s just me but I do feel a little heel slippage from time to time.

  4. A Hypebeast article described the Bounce midsole as offering ‘responsive comfort’ – so that might be what RC stands for?

RC has a traditional tongue and heel shape.. so this look less sleek than the original AlphaBounce. But I love that adidas have an option for these kicks at less than $100..very bang for your buck.

    1. And what would Hypebeast know about performance? That is probably straight from the sneaker’s product description.
Agreed, for less than 100 this seems like good value.

      1. And what would Hypebeast know about performance? <- #SAVAGE

These have released in the Philippines (in the Flipside?) about a week ago, I think. Total of 5 dropped; 2 RC 1 HPC 2 EM but still no tan 🙁

  5. Happy New Year to you and the WT Team!

I got confused by this too. I searched more and I think it goes…
EM = Grey, Tan, Blue, and Green (Just as initially posted here in WT)
RC = Grey, Black (The grey ones in this post)
    HPC = 2017 AlphaBounce

Kinda weird that they categorized the HPC for women only though
