Way of Wade All City 13 Show
Way of Wade’s All City line is consistently one of the best options if you’re looking for top-of-the-line tech at a reasonable price. All City sneakers are usually equipped with just about the same performance features as their flagship model for considerably less money. This was the case for the All City 12, the All City 12 Encore, and the All City 11 before that, and it’s the case once again with their 13th model.
Recently there have been several excellent value options that have hit the sneaker market, which is great to see, but even with the added competition, the All City 13 should be one of the best options in this category. Let’s get into the review and find out what the Way of Wade All City 13 is packing that makes it such a well-rounded basketball shoe.
Way of Wade All City 13 Review
Way of Wade All City 13 Traction
The Way of Wade All City 13 features Way of Wade’s innovative GCU Rubber outsole, which stands for “Ground Control Unit.” This sole is constructed with a special polyurethane compound designed to provide superior grip and durability. We have seen GCU used in previous Way of Wade models, but this one feels like it will be the most durable version yet, which is great if you plan on using the All City 13 outdoors.
The outsole’s herringbone pattern is segmented into flex zones, promoting natural movement and flexibility. The added flexibility is important because of the substantial torsional plate housed within the midsole which adds a good amount of rigidity in the forefoot of the shoe. Traction in the All City 13 should perform very well on court and be tough enough to hold up well on outdoor surfaces as well.
Way of Wade All City 13 Cushion
Cushioning is clearly a standout feature in the Way of Wade All City 13, and a big reason why it is such a high-value hoop shoe. The All City 13 is equipped with a full-length slab of Boom foam, which is the brand’s best cushioning setup. If you’ve never tried Boom, it’s very similar to adidas’ Boost foam. It’s light, plush, and bouncy underfoot while still providing a good amount of compression and impact protection.
A supercritical insole complements the midsole by enhancing step-in comfort. This insole doesn’t do much in terms of torsional support (not that the shoe needs it) but it does add a good amount of cushioning underfoot that should retain its form over extended use. This combination ensures both comfort and impact protection and should be one of the best cushioning systems you will find for the price.
Way of Wade All City 13 Materials
The material build of the All City 13 is one of the reasons why Way of Wade was able to release this model at the price they did. The construction is very functional and performance-driven, but fully synthetic. According to the brand, this layered design (VAJRA SKIN) improves wear resistance, temperature tolerance, and comfort. The upper feels light yet robust, offering flexibility and ventilation without sacrificing support.
It’s definitely a well-built synthetic upper, but Way of Wade’s product description might be slightly exaggerated. Everything performs well on court, but there is nothing groundbreaking with the build of the All City 13. If you like thin, lightweight, modern builds in your basketball shoes, you will like the All City 13.
Way of Wade All City 13 Support
Support is a critical element for any performance basketball shoe, and the Way of Wade All City 13 does not disappoint. The shoe features a comprehensive support system that includes a robust foam heel counter and a nearly full-length TPU torsion/ spring plate that wraps around the midfoot providing arch support as well.
Additionally, a black (in this colorway) TPU panel provides targeted lateral support in the forefoot, and a textured toe rand adds containment and durability. All of this in conjunction with the wide and stable base and the structured skin fuse style upper provides a secure and stable ride on court.
Way of Wade All City 13 Fit
The Way of Wade All City 13 fits true to size but leans to the snug side. Players with narrow or standard-width feet will likely find this ideal. However, those with wider feet may need to go up half a size to avoid discomfort, particularly in the forefoot area where support panels are more rigid.
The shoe’s inner padding strikes a fine balance, ensuring a secure lockdown without causing pressure points. The toe box design accommodates natural movement while the midfoot structure firmly hugs the foot, creating a glove-like fit that enhances overall performance.
Way of Wade All City 13 Overall
The Way of Wade All City 13 is a very versatile and well-equipped basketball shoe, but it’s also reasonably priced. $150 nowadays is a mid-tier price tag and the All City 13s performance package is definitely top-tier. Traction is excellent and durable, cushioning is elite, and so are the support features. Way of Wade didn’t skimp out on anything in the All City 13 in terms of performance.
The one thing that isn’t premium in this model is the materials. They work just fine on court, but they are in no way premium. That’s hardly a complaint, just an observation. The Way of Wade All City 13 will suit almost any position and playing style well and it can easily handle outdoor play and offers a ton of value for the price.
