Whether you are for it or against it, the growth of “GolfTube” is inevitable. It’s here to stay.
Malosi Togisala (Big Moe) is currently one of the top content creators on YouTube and Instagram boasting over 200,000 followers across the two platforms and has skyrocketed since recently joining the top rated Good Good crew.
I sat down with Big Moe and talked about all things golf with an added emphasis on golf footwear and the boom of Golf on YouTube.
In this article, you’ll read about new brands, exciting videos, and all about Big Moe and where he comes from.
The Interview
Tyler: Let’s start with the basics. Where you’re from, age, and anything that you feel is pertinent for our audience to know about you.
Malosi: Born and raised here in Utah. I went to school in South Ogden, Utah at Bonneville High School. That’s where I was basically born and raised out there. After I graduated high school I spent two years on a mission in El Salvador. I came home from that in 2017 and I went and played college golf for a year in Wyoming. I missed Utah so I came back home, and now I live in Saint George.
Tyler: One question I have about playing in Wyoming, did you ever have any interesting or crazy experiences on course with wildlife?
Malosi: You know, funny enough I didn’t have anything crazier than your typical coyote running around on the fairway or deer. It wasn’t like Yellowstone, Wyoming. It was kind of out in the boonies called Eastern Wyoming Community College. It’s in Torrington, Wyoming and it was a blast. I loved it there. I learned a lot about myself and golf. Nothing crazy as far as wildlife.
The most crazy thing we ever had was playing a tournament in 35 mph wind. There was a par 3 that was 245 yards into the wind and I had to hit driver just to get it close to the green.
Tyler: That sounds like what I do on a normal par 3.
Malosi: It was brutal. I think that most of the guys in my group hit driver on that hole too. It was into the wind, up the hill…just brutal. Wyoming wind is a real thing.
Tyler: I believe it. That reminds me a little bit of the clip of Tony Finau hitting a driver on number 7 at Pebble this past year at the tournament.
Transitioning a little, what would you say has been your favorite moment on the golf course this year?
Malosi: This year? 2024 my favorite memory so far…gosh. I don’t know. It’s hard to judge because I’ve had so many crazy good moments. I would probably say my favorite moment was when I played golf with Garrett out in Houston for our first time golfing together. That was my first time ever filming with Garrett on Youtube for his GM GOLF channel and it was a blast. We didn’t shoot the best. I shot 80 and he shot 81. It wasn’t anything spectacular as far as golf goes, but that is when the vibes became real and Garrett and I became really close friends.
That’s probably the highlight of the year so far. Other than that, my first Good Good week was amazing when I first won the lightning knockout round. It was my first ever Good Good video and I won it individually. It was pretty sick. I think the one that meant the most was that one with Garrett because I’ve been watching Garrett for so long.
Tyler: I’m sure it felt pretty surreal and crazy to come to that point and to have built your brand enough to wear that was a possibility and actually happening.
Malosi: Yep. 100%.
Tyler: That’s a good transition because my next question is about joining Good Good and what that has been like.
Malosi: It’s been a blast dude. It’s the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. I never thought it would happen. It wasn’t really necessarily a goal of mine to become a part of Good Good from when I started everything, that just happened. The reason I do this is because of these guys and the fact that I am now one of those guys is just the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. I’m forever grateful to be in this spot.
Tyler: Jumping back to your channel – I know that one of the most recent videos you put out featured you playing 130 holes in a day right?
Malosi: Yeah…yeah it was. It was intense dude.
It was at Coral Canyon which is my home course here in Saint George. Shout out to Coral, I love that place. It was a riot. I remember coming up with the idea from a thumbnail idea. BustaJack did a challenge where you can’t leave the course until you birdie every hole. The thumbnail was just so perfect. That’s when I was like you know what, that’s a great idea to see how many holes I can play in one day.
One of my buddies told me that he played 126 holes one time in a day. So I was like, I think I can beat 126 so let’s do 130. That’s the whole reason the 130 holes even came into the picture. The whole idea of that started with the thumbnail.
Tyler: That’s crazy.
Malosi: It was the funnest thing ever. I’m so excited that it happened. It was definitely a really big blessing to have my back stay firm and solid throughout the whole round.
Tyler: What shoes were you repping that day and how did your feet feel after?
Malosi: I was wearing my TRUE linkswear Lux G.
Tyler: Those are the ones I’m wearing right now. The Lux G is one of the next performance reviews we’ll be publishing over here at WearTesters.
Malosi: Those are the shoes I was wearing that day and those are the shoes that I kind of wear all the time honestly. I freaking love them. I was wearing those shoes and my feet felt great.
Everyone kept asking me how my hands, feet, and back were doing. The biggest thing for me was having a solid back and that’s what was hurting the most. My hands and feet weren’t bad. My back was tired and sore.
Tyler: Oh I bet. Playing that many holes… I can only imagine how your back was feeling after that many holes.
Malosi: It was ridiculous but it was so much fun. I can’t complain too much.
Tyler: Current Handicap?
Malosi: I’m a +1.4. I should be higher than that but that’s where I’m at.
Tyler: Favorite golfer on tour?
Malosi: Scottie Scheffler.
Tyler: Same here. Either him or Tony cause we’ve got the Utah ties.
Malosi: My top 5 would be – Scottie Scheffler, Tony Finau, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, and oddly enough I’ve always loved Cam Smith.
Tyler: What would be your dream golf video collab?
Malosi: It’s hard to tell because I’ve hit the people I’ve always wanted to collab with…let’s circle back on that one. Let me think.
Tyler: Transitioning to golf footwear – What’s the most important feature to you before buying a new pair of golf shoes?
Malosi: That they fit.
Tyler: Fit is usually the biggest one for me. If the shoe doesn’t fit, you’re going to blister, feel pain in your toes, and your arches, so fit is definitely a fair one.
You used to rep OluKai right?
Malosi: Yep!
Tyler: They’re actually in our testing queue. We’ve been reaching out to them. We’re hoping to test their shoes down the road. Do you want to plug them and how they felt on your feet?
Malosi: They were super comfortable. As far as golf shoes go, they were spikeless which I really love. That’s another big thing for me, when they’re spikeless. On top of that, the shoe just looked really clean with the leather and material on the shoe.
They held up really well with my wide feet.
Tyler: We’ll make sure we get OluKai added and when the article is up we’ll reference this interview.
Do you prefer spikeless over spiked shoes?
Malosi: I do. The main reason for that is just because I’m a heavier dude. I want to make sure I’m not ruining the golf course. For me, that’s the most important part. It’s also a little bit more comfortable for me.
Tyler: I’m a lightweight and I wear spiked shoes while testing and even if you accidentally drag your foot you can create scratch marks on the green.
You look down and you’re like “Oh my gosh bro…”
What’s your current favorite golf shoe?
Malosi: The Good Good Callaway shoe is probably my favorite and then TRUE Linkswear.
Tyler: If you could get shoes from any brand for free but you can only rep that brand forever, which would it be and why?
Malosi: Any brand to have shoe wise? Right?
Tyler: Yeah.
Malosi: I’ll do Callaway shoes for golf. They are REALLY comfortable right now.
As far as everyday wear, I’m probably gonna go with some nice Jordans.
I’m a big Jordan Low guy. I can’t do the high or the mid, I’m all about the low.
Tyler: I’m in the same boat. I just got done testing the Air Jordan 9 G and it’s definitely a different feel. I like the lows more as well.
Malosi: At the end of the day that’s valid.
Tyler: Thank you again, do you have anything you want to plug?
Malosi: I don’t have too many things to plug but I think I found who I want to golf with.
Tyler: Who would it be?
Malosi: I think it would be Ed Mylett. He’s a motivational speaker. The reason I say Ed Mylett is because I listen to a lot of his podcasts. He’s a super big motivator as far as a lot of things go. I just think he’s such a cool dude and I think that’s who I’d pick.
Tyler: We appreciate you joining us!
Malosi: I appreciate you man… Thank you.
