A few important Reebok silhouettes are hitting big anniversaries in 2017 — the Shaq Attaq, Workout, and Freestyle Hi to name a few — and to celebrate, Reebok Classic has enlisted Teyana Taylor.
Today, the Vector brand announced a long-term partnership with R&B artist, dancer, actress, and sneakerhead Teyana Taylor. The newest member of the Reebok family will serve as an official brand ambassador and join creators like Future, Gigi Hadid, and Kendrick Lamar.
According to Reebok, Taylor will spearhead the re-release of the Reebok Classic Freestyle Hi — one of the flyest sneakers ever released for women, in my opinion. First launched in 1982, the Freestyle Hi is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Groundbreaking then, with Taylor on board the silhouette will continue to embody fearlessness and bold expression.
Using the personal message “Free Your Style,” Teyana Taylor unveiled the new campaign on her social channels with images and video. She is pictured wearing the Freestyle Hi, released in three monochromatic OG colorways — Triple Red, Triple White, and Triple Black. All three are available now at Reebok.com for $90 each. Additional colorways will be coming throughout 2017.
“Teyana Taylor is the perfect collaborator to join the Reebok family,” said Todd Krinsky, Global Vice President of Reebok Classic and Entertainment. “She is a risk-taker who brings her own perspective to every project and she stands uniquely at the intersection of fashion, music and fitness, which are the core tenets of Reebok Classic. This partnership continues to solidify Reebok’s commitment to women who express themselves through confidence in style.”
Commenting on the partnership, Taylor said, “Reebok has always been a brand that’s been very special to my heart ever since I was young. Freestyles were all I wanted to wear growing up so it feels like everything’s come full circle with this partnership. The 5411’s really opened the door for creativity in women’s fashion, it gave permission for sneakers to be feminine. I’m honored to be the face of the Freestyle campaign for everything it stood for yesterday and what it still represents today.
If you recall, Teyana Taylor collaborated with Reebok last year for the Question’s 20th anniversary — we shot her rendition of the iconic silhouette for Test Shoot (click here).
