The Curry 3 from Under Amour has yet to be officially unveiled but here we have a decent look at the highly anticipated silhouette in this Warriors ‘Away’ colorway.
Let’s just get straight to the interesting part, the tech. Below you can see that the Curry 3 comes with a tech specs card in the box and here is what we found interesting:
- Threadborne S*: This is what the Curry 3’s upper is made out of and UA describes it as, “High tension threads woven intelligently to deliver the ideal mix of directional support and Breathability”. In case you were wondering, the S* stands for: ‘Survival Cord’.
- Meta Wing Plates: Not Nightwing, Meta Wing. These are two carbon fiber pinions (the outer part of a bird’s wing), that act as stabilizers to guide the foot during forward motions.
- Carbon Fiber Midfoot Shank: Carbon fiber! That is all…
- Molded Heel/Quarter Chassis: The back heel portion of the Curry 3 is made out of a lightweight structural foam and a performance textile material that is advertised to deliver both comfort and protection.
- Dynamic Midsole Frame: a raised foam counter that is blended into the Charged foam midsole which is said to create the sensation that UA is calling ‘Dynamic Containment’.
From what we can tell visually, the Curry 3 should be a solid performer as it looks like Under Armour doubled down on the fit by going with an asymmetrical lacing system that uses four major eyelets. These eyelets might be attached to the tongue to provide a snug fit that applies pressure from the top down like the ClutchFit Drive 3.
The outsole looks promising with its full-length herringbone setup that is articulated in the forefoot. Additionally, it features some horizontal herringbone sections which may keep you covered in every direction.
What do you guys think? Does the tech specs card change your opinion on the Curry 3? Does this close look get you more or less excited for the release of Steph’s third signature model?

One thing that strikes me is that I initially thought the “pinions” and shank were one piece like the LeBron XIII Elite. It’s not a make-or-break, maybe even keeps it at price point, but eh
Well, i am starting to feel them….
why do these closeup shots never show the other side of the shoe
They give nice names to market their products. Hopefully they perform just as great!
I hated these the first time I saw pics of them but tbh the more I look at it now the more I like it
Is it just me or does it look like they have a ton of forefoot cushioning?
Same i saw that too, looks almost the same thickness as the heel which is odd
I like this colorway,
BUT im currently an Adidas Fan with their Awesome BOOST lineup,
Im a Curry fan, but unless the Curry 3 performs , i’ll likely not buy it, PERFORMANCE is everything!
UA made nice improvements in cushioning from the 1 to the 2 and I hope the cushioning of the 3s is a little bouncier than the 2s.
Traction has me a little concerned with these. Traction was awesome on the 2s. Traction was inconsistent for me on the 1s. This traction setup looks like a it’s closer to the 1s.
These shoes definitely look better in certain colorways. Like this blue colorway so far.
If UA implements some of the foam they used in the UA fat tire is would be bouncy. On a side note. I just saw nordstromrack.com has the Brandblack JC on sale for 70. In case anyone is interested.
Good looking out Nate. They have a decent selection of Brand Black shoes on there.
Disappointed they went back to regular herringbone since the Curry 2’s aggresive traction was phenomenal.
At first i thought these looked like a hiking boot had a child with a basketball shoe, but there really growing on me, look like a good performer too
When will we get a performance review?
