PEAK laced the WearTesters team with three of their premier models, the DH1, TP9-III, and Lightning 4. The first two models have their respective ‘From Design to Technology’ posts (here and here), and now it’s time to introduce the PEAK Lightning 4.
The design inspiration of the PEAK Lightning 4 is the Rus-47 supersonic aircraft. The speed, angles, and power of that aircraft are clearly visible on the Lightning 4, from the heel to the striking angular mudguard.
And now for the tech:
The brand new PEAK Lightning 4 features PEAK’s proprietary CUSHION-3 cushioning system that is comprised of three different grades of cushioning. The Chinese brand has also made upgrades to the GRADIENT dual-energy technology in the forefoot. With different levels of shock absorption, the GRADIENT materials adapt to the natural form of the human foot, distributing pressure upon landing. The adhesive traction design works in tandem with the dual-energy technology for a cushioned and stable ride. GRADIENT dual-energy technology is designed for guards who need feedback and a high-speed shoe.
The PEAK Lightning 4 also features PEAK’s new arch stability technology, the TENACITY UNIT. It helps the outsole maintain stability in strenuous exercise and ensures the torsional rigidity of the shoe’s body. Additionally, the synthetic upper provides ventilation with thin meshed cutouts along the side panels.

Not sure about the upper, but the design is pretty good! Definitely a step up from what the older models looked like.
not sure about the materials used- upper looks pretty plasticky. but they look amazing. great color-blocking and love the colorway
Traction pattern looks neat.
Fuse + the straight lace row on the medial side doesn’t sound like good combo to me…but testing could prove me wrong. Still curious about the Cushion 3 setup.

These look pretty nice. I like the colorway and the traction/cushion setup look interesting. The upper looks a little too plastic-y but looks can be deceiving. Their shoes are looking more and more appealing to me.
I like the style of these Peak Lightning 4, but since I kind of sweat a lot from my feet, I prefer shoes that are more “breathable” above and around the feet. With mesh and/or knit/knitted material. I have the green version of http://weartesters.com/nike-hyperdunk-2014-low-now-available-nikeid/ .
