Can I kick it? Yes, you can. Nevermind, I don’t want to scuff my new A Tribe Called Quest x Vans up.
Vans has teamed up with historic rap group A Tribe Called Quest to release a collection of kicks inspired by the group’s jazz-enriched music and colorful album covers.
Growing up in the ’90s and living with parents who I claim to be music heads, I’ve to herd my fair share of A Tribe Called Quest music. The one thing other than their music that caught my attention at such a young age was their album covers; the covers were so colorful and fun — I thought they looked like comic books.
It’s cool to see what Vans has done to capture the vibrant colors and prints, and incorporating A Tribe Called Quest’s most personal milestones in the group’s career on a variety of Vans classic silhouettes. The collection includes the Authentic, Era, Old Skool, Slip-On, Sk8-Hi, and UltraRange. However, my favorite is the Vans Era with the album covers on it. I’ve also noticed a Vans Slip-On pop-up, a mellow yellow version of the Sk8-Hi, and a Vans Old Skool in a tribal colorway.
The A Tribe Called Quest X Vans sneaker collection will release globally on April 6. Prices range from $37 to $85 and shoes will be available in men’s, women’s, and kids sizes.
