Aside from the cultural influence of athletes like Steph Curry and Jordan Spieth, as a golfer, I knew very little about Under Armour and the gear the brand has to offer.
So when I found out that the UA Drive Pro was headed my way, I had low expectations. I just didn’t have enough experience with Under Armour footwear to know what to expect (please don’t hate me, Under Armour).
And to be completely honest, I’m glad I didn’t have any expectations. Because it allowed the UA Drive Pro to catch me by surprise when it EASILY moved into my top 3 of best-performing golf shoes.
There wasn’t a single category in which the UA Drive Pro was lacking. [Editor’s Note: Spoiler alert, Tyler.] The cushioning is top tier, the traction is just as good, and the look of the shoe itself is simple yet gorgeous. Under Armour gives us its “Swing Support System,” which is said to offer “smarter traction, dual-foam cushioning, and lockdown lacing.”
I’m sharing too many teasers… [Editor’s Note: We’ve gone beyond teasers and have nearly let the cat out of the bag entirely…]
Let’s dive in!
UA Drive Pro
Price: $170
Sizing: True to size

Fit
I have no complaints in the fit category, so I’ll keep it brief.
Initially, I thought the UA Drive Pro might fit tight when I saw the shoe. But the majority of reviewers on Under Armour’s website state that the UA Drive Pro fits true-to-size, and I concur. My foot slid in easily, and the shoe ultimately fit like a glove in my normal 11.5. There was hardly any heel slippage or movement.
Average-footers should order your typical size when purchasing the UA Drive Pro. But if you have wide feet, Under Armour offers a wide option here.

Traction
Golf shoes with little to no traction can create hellish rounds of golf. Slipping and sliding all over the place leads to bad shots.
With nine spikes on the bottom of the UA Drive Pro, you better hope the traction here is good! Four spikes reinforce grip towards the back of the foot and the heel. The other five are placed throughout the bottom of the forefoot, creating all-around traction control.
I’m happy to report that the UA Drive Pro’s traction setup can compete with any golf shoe on the market. I took shots from many different lies, including the fairway, the rough, and the bunker. I never noticed any loss of traction. Wet conditions didn’t affect that reliability either.
Like I said before, the traction control that the UA Drive Pro offers can compete with any golf shoe on the market.
Also, for those that prefer a spikeless golf shoe, Under Armour does offer a spikeless version here.

Cushion
Under Armour boasts that its dual-density “energy-returning UA HOVR™ foam + supportive Charged Cushioning™ guides [the] natural motion of the foot in a golf swing.”
The Charged Cushioning is specifically meant to help with impact absorption, keeping your feet fresh and increasing the amount of wear and tear that your feet can handle. In some cases, cushioning can feel REALLY good because the marketing is really good. This isn’t the case with HOVR + Charged Cushioning.
After walking 7-10 miles in the UA Drive Pro, I can confidently say that the cushioning is legit top-notch. My feet felt extremely natural in the UA Drive Pro, and this version of HOVR foam was a revelation. This is one of the comfiest golf shoes I’ve ever worn.

Support
UA’s “lockdown lacing” and “Swing Support Strap” increase support by drawing the upper securely around your foot and offering a bit of structure. But the biggest thing to note in this section is the arch support provided.
Like I mentioned in the cushioning section, I had the chance to walk 7-10 miles in the UA Drive Pro, and arch support was never compromised or diminished over time. I typically feel fatigue in the arches of my feet after most golf rounds, but I didn’t notice any arch pain in the UA Drive Pro. If you’re prone to arch pain and are looking for optimal support in that area, look no further.

Price
$170 for one of the best spiked golf shoes on the market?
TAKE MY MONEY.
$170 is priced well compared to other top-rated spiked models, so nothing concerns me about this price point for the UA Drive Pro.
Remember that you’re investing in your golf game when you buy golf shoes. Will your first pair of golf shoes make you 10 strokes better? No. Will it make you 2-3 strokes better? Possibly. Having the right pair of shoes on the course can absolutely lead to better scoring, and $170 for the UA Drive Pro is a great value.

UA Drive Pro Summary
There was one con while testing the UA Drive Pro: the fact that it took a whole year of writing for WearTesters to get some Under Armour golf shoes on my feet.
After testing dozens of models, I can confirm that the UA Drive Pro is one of the best golf shoes your money can buy. The added bonus is the $170 price point, which is particularly solid for a spiked shoe. The HOVR + Charged Cushioning is also really impressive, and I’m confident in saying that the UA Drive Pro is one of the most comfortable spiked golf shoes available. If you tend to have achy feet on the golf course, the UA Drive Pro is for you.
But the thing that I appreciated most about the UA Drive Pro is its simplicity. It’s not the flashiest golf shoe. It’s simple, clean, and brings high performance to the table.
These factors create a golf shoe that is suited for all golfers. Whether you’re scratch or brand new to this lovely game, the UA Drive Pro is an admirable choice.

Tyler Allred (19 handicap): Golfs 2-3 times a week spending the bulk of his time playing actual rounds. Mostly pushes himself to improve every part of his game, but also enjoys a casual round of golf every now and then.

While Under Armour did send a pair of the UA Drive Pro to facilitate this review, the company had no involvement in this review, didn’t receive an advance look at it, and has not attempted to influence it.
