One of the most celebrated individuals of our time, AND1 will pay tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. on this Tai Chi.
The Tai Chi pays direct homage to the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom that ended with MLK’s famous ‘I Have a Dream’ speech with graphics utilizing newspaper prints from the event are found on the panels of the shoe showcasing signs bearing demands that are still very relevant today.
The insole features the iconic image outside the Washington Monument while protestors stand in unison listening to Dr. King speak.
While we’ve come a long way since the 60’s, the internet and its anonymous users are a constant reminder that even in the 2019, many of the injustices the Civil Rights movement sought to correct are still with us. In response, AND1 hopes this shoe serves as a reminder of the power of civil disobedience and peaceful protest to affect positive change.
