As I’ve said previously, I adore Chinese New Year colorways. The Asics Gel-Lyte III Chinese New Year simply reinforces my love for this time of year in footwear.
Asics usually does things properly and this gorgeous rich burgundy perforated suede colorway looks excellent. Burgundy leather hits the eyestay and heel, with gold accenting the side panel branding and heels. The midsole is white but speckled with gold to carry the Chinese New Year theme through, and the guts of the shoe are black.
Asics’ tried and true Gel cushion will make these more and more comfortable every time you rock them (love this silhouette for that exact reason) and the split tongue is tied up with black and red laces. This burgundy colorway is simple and effective, but I’d have liked to see some more gold or some motifs for this particular new year (year of the Fire Monkey).
