Finally – one of my favorite shoes of the last two years gets an update.
Reebok skipped a year in the JJ Watt line, which wasn’t a bad thing since I loved the Watt II, but I wanted – NEEDED – a new version. Well, here it is.
Releasing July 17, the JJ Watt III was designed to meet he needs of any athlete, whether it be a weekend warrior looking for a garage trainer or the guy in the corner at the weight room squatting 500 for reps (you know they always put the squat racks in the corner). The newly designed trainer is made up of these key features:
- a stretch-mesh upper for a one-to-one, sock-like fit
- a durable flexweave layer in the upper for durability and containment
- lacing that locks you in
- a stabilizing heel counter to keep those heavy weights from crushing the midsole and rolling over
- a special zig/zag stitch pattern mimicking JJ’s battle scar
According to the Reebok website, the Liquid Foam from the first two versions is gone, leaving us with an EVA foam midsole, but with the advances in foam technology in the last few years I’m not worried.
The new model will be released as part of a multi-shoe pack named “Made of Many” throughout the year, reminding us all of the people and journeys JJ took to get to the NFL. The first colorway pack is titled “Varsity” for I hope obvious reasons.
The Reebok JJ III Varsity will be available for purchase for an MSRP of $100 in unisex and kids sizing starting at midnight on July 17 on Reebok.com and at select retailers across the United States.
If you are like me, this kind of release excites you. The JJ Watt shoes in the past have been great sellers for Reebok and great performers in the gym. Let us know below if you plan on grabbing a pair.

I guess the old logo is coming back to the training line 🙂
I love the throwback look of these.
Looks like the nike air zoom command trainer.
Love the return of RBK’s classic-design touches, these are beautiful.
