Today, Reebok introduced Liquid Factory, a new innovative way to engineer footwear. Liquid Factory sounds like what it is: the engineering process involves liquid.
Liquid Factory uses liquid drawing, a technique wherein liquid material can be drawn and laid out in three dimensional shapes and designs. Robots are programmed to precisely draw with this liquid material, and from that has come a high-energy return outsole, without a mold. Additionally, the Liquid Factory process creates a unique fit system that provides a three dimensional fit around the foot. See the video clip below to check out the process.
With the Liquid Factory process, Reebok cuts down on manufacturing time since it can create the base of a shoe without a mold at all. The first shoe created from the Liquid Factory process was the Reebok Liquid Speed. It’s pictured below and showcases the 3-D molded outsole and containment system.
The Reebok Liquid Speed is now available for purchase at Reebok.com and Finishline.com for $189.50 USD. Links are listed below for purchase. Let us know what your thoughts are for for the new process of engineering shoes from Reebok in the comments below.
Very interesting concept, not sure about the performance though.
I can’t wait for a performance review on these.
One of the ugliest shoes man has ever created. It looks like someone stepped on Carnage.
Price is a little steep
CREP PROTECT shoe
Is this another gimmick or something that will really perform? No matter what, it’s very pleasing seeing Reebok back again with another innovation.
Great concept, not sure about the wrap overlapping the toe-flex, that could pinch if not done exactly right.
That sole looks awful glossy. I’d think that would/could be dangerous in the wrong elements.
Its a great idea but it kinda looks like ketchup got squirted on the shoe…
