New Jersey sneaker institution Packer Shoes has asked an impossible question: what if you took the numerical New Balance model names from the four shoes that went into the design of the X-90 and multiplied them by the nine shoes that inspired this X-90’s colors and materials?
Spoiler alert: you get a huge number. Thus, Packer has called this X-90 Recon the ‘Infinity Edition’. The recently introduced X-90 Recon is a new hybrid sneaker that draws from several of the 99X series NB models for a new-vintage look. Like with all of Packer’s collaborative projects, the shop has gone further by adding iconic New Balance colors and materials to the X-90 Recon in an effort to make it even more interesting.
The Packer X-90 Recon focuses on the storied pairing of blues, from teal to deep navy and sky blue, and greys, like charcoal and light green-grey tones, that New Balance is known for. The result is a sneaker that would, hopefully, look right at home in an original New Balance catalog.
The X-90 Recon is New Balance’s version of the chunky sneaker for 2018. It rides atop REVlite foam midsoles for casual comfort and rubber outsoles for traction. It’s a slip-on, so the laces are mostly decorative.
The Packer x New Balance X-90 Recon ‘Infinity Edition’ will retail for $130 and it is a Packer exclusive. You’ll be able to grab it at PackerShoes.com and at all Packer store locations at 12 noon EDT. Sizes 7 to 13 will be stocked.
