Remember back when I performance tested the Reebok Answer IV and I mentioned that these new Retro models did not have the DMX that the original had?
Today we have a great look at the inner workings of an original pair of Reebok Answer IV’s thanks to HUPU. You can see the DMX I-pak perfectly and possibly a reason why they were not included with the Retro… they’re very thin and didn’t last long. I personally don’t find that to be a good excuse though… the DMX 10-pal was included in the DMX 10 Retro that just released and they could have just thickened up the plastic to make it last longer for on-court usage.
Either way, at least you can now see what I was talking about and understand why the Original models were slightly better than today’s Retro.
would you say DMX cushioning is similar to zoom? I’m imagining air being passed through heel-forefoot and back. I’ve never owned a pair of Reebok
Not really. Zoom is responsive and springs back. This moves back and forth so its more of a transfer system and not a responsive system.
sound to me like they are “gellin” 🙁
I’m trying hard to cop the white and blue OG colorway when they inevitably go on sale. They have them on sneaker politics for 69.99, so I may have to pull the trigger; problem being, however, is that I really want to see them in person before buying.
I tried on the blue pair and the DMX foam felt a little different in those vs my black white retro colorway, like more responsive (also went half a size lower, probably making a difference in feel as well). These didn’t feel like cardboard so much, whereas my black/whites felt more like wood…
These were the most slippery shoes I have ever had – totally ridiculous. The midfoot was even worse, especially if you were to run down the stairs to get to the gym. Would not get them second time
the IPS was awesome on foot. it’s like a bubble that moves back and forth.
