Back in March, Under Armour quietly showcased the SpeedForm Amp 2.0 at its FW17 fashion show. Now, we’ve got the official tech specs for the upcoming trainer.
As its name suggests, the Amp 2.0 features a moisture-wicking SpeedForm heel construction and sockliner that is paired with an external TPU heel counter. UA’s sock-like burrito tongue takes care of the fit while a multi-lace saddle should offer some support.
An attempt to “unleash the power of your foundation” (your feet) the lightweight, durable, abrasion-resistant woven upper sits atop tooling that uses open, floating space between the foot and midsole. This should allow for natural arch movement, and coupled with the internal shank, should keep you pretty stable.
There is no Charged Cushioning to distract from the feel here, only a lightweight EVA midsole, and there are strategically placed flex grooves in the outsole. Offset is 2mm, not surprising since the goal is to have a flat, stable base, and the shoe weighs 9.32oz.
The original SpeedForm Amp was $120 and UA keeps things pretty consistent so we should see the Amp 2.0 land for around the same price soon.

Should be good for lifting with the 2.0 mm drop as long as the toe box is wide enough…..
