Nike has brought something special to San Francisco and the Bay Area is getting hyped. With Team USA playing an exhibition game at Oracle Arena against China on Tuesday, July 26, the Golden Air box takes us through the heritage and culture of Nike Basketball.
Inside the Golden Air box Nike presented us with the history of the Air Foamposite, from the original release in 1997 to the upcoming releases of the ‘Olympic’ (set to release on July 26 for $250) and ‘Hyper Cobalt’ (set to release on August 26 for $230). The glass floor displayed the history of Nike Air Foamposites while showing a number of popular releases throughout the years like the ‘Shooting Stars’, ‘Dr Doom’, ‘Tianjin China’, and much more. The ‘Olympic’ and ‘Hyper Cobalt’ Foamposites were on display in glass boxes hanging from the ceiling and in special packaging that included ‘Golden Air’ and ‘Team USA’ dubraes, gold aglets, and special Penny logo and Foamposite pins.
Not only did Nike promote a cool sneaker experience, it encouraged Bay Area sneaker enthusiasts to be social while providing some food and drinks. It was a great social gathering for me since I got the chance to see some people I usually only see at events like SoleWest, BayAreaGotSole, Sneaker Pop Up, Dunkxchange, and Sneakercon. I had a great time catching up with them, not only just talking about sneakers, but about life as well.
The Swoosh is providing the Bay Area with an unforgettable experience to see the history and culture of Nike Basketball. I hope to see more of these events coming to San Francisco in the future. Who went to the Nike SNKRS ‘Golden Air’ Box? What was your experience like? Did you cop anything special? Let us know in the comments section below.
With each purchase of the ‘Olympic’ or “Hyper Cobalt’ Foamposite, you received an envelope where you got the chance to win a special Foamposite case or one of the ten pairs of Air Max 1 Bespoke ‘Golden State’ created by Andre Iguodala. There were two lucky winners of the Air Max 1 Bespoke ‘Golden State’ and a couple people won the special Foamposite case that was displayed inside the Golden Air box.
