  1. They look like the clutchfit drive lows which looked like the Kobe 8’s using all synthetics. Not loving the synthetic/cheap looks but it does look promising as far as cushion and traction. Kind of amazing these can offer a full length lunarlon insole and the Hyperdunks are still targeted. And $40 MORE. I might pick these up. Even if its just to have a backup lunarlon insole in case my Kobe 8’s and 9’s ever bottom out.

  2. Do you know for sure if that’s lunarlon? I’m really hoping they cheap out and put phylon instead. I like firmer cushioning.

  3. It would be really awesome of either Kobe 8 or 9 midsoles can be inserted in case the stock Lunarlon midsole sucks (possible since its only a take down). Better if the Lebron 11 midsole fits! Excited for this as well as for the upcoming Venomenons with Kobe 5 and 6 cushioning with a huge forefoot unit and heel unit.

  4. these look AMAZING I might cop if traction is the same or better than kobe 8 and cushion is regular lunarlon ☺

    1. tried these on at the HOH and you feel the upper popping on your foot, lots of plastic here. I have 3 pairs of the V and a few IX’s so ….. no rush here

  5. I wonder if they are trying to put these up against the Clutchfit Drive lows?

Putting in a full length Lunarlon midsole seems to go against Nike’s tech/money pinching in regards to their lower end models.

    1. I completely agree and that’s why I was shocked. A good looking, lower budget, full length cushion source is not what I would expect from our good “friends” at Nike. I mean, with things going toward different uppers and fly wire, I can see why these would be a little cheaper since they are using more conventional tech on the other parts of the shoe but still. These look like a great model that could definitely help with competition which is exactly what I’ve been saying for a while now. Having companies like UA come up and make a serious push with their models that both perform well and are affordable forces other players in the sector to take notice and make changes. Hell, that deal that’s going on over at adidas with 30 percent off is amazing. Brand new Roses sell for just over 100 with the Promo code “FRIENDS” so I might have to pick some up finally just to try them out.

      Competition is a GREAT thing.

      1. Thanks for the heads up Mr. NW. I will hold off until then. Always appreciate the information, reviews, and dedication that you’ve put toward your craft. Respect.

      2. Saw the red and black color way today at Foot Locker. They’re extremely light. The lunarlon is thicker than the 8s.

        1. Interesting. Would it still fit in the Kobe 8s?

I was thinking that all you guys that own the Kobe 8s and 9s would be interested in getting these shoes to have a spare insole for them. Plus you’d also have a shoe you can use outdoors too.

        1. How did the Lunarlon midsole look? Does it look like it can be used as a spare for all those people that own the Kobe 8s and 9s?

I’m assuming those Lunarlon midsoles aren’t all the same and others from different model shoes have different densities?

          1. I wasn’t really interested in the model and didn’t care to pull the midsole out to check. I just picked it up real quick to see how light it felt and how the materials were because it was a new shoe. So 3 minutes or so and I kept it pushing.

  6. I saw the black and red pair at a mall here in the PH. Tried them on and the lunarlon was awesome! Also the upper feels like it wont pinch even after long games. Already planning on copping after the holidays (coz i’m broke as hell)

  7. Question – Shoes that have these Lunarlon midsoles, do they ever have a thin sockliner on top? If not, is there any slippage with your foot on top of the foam itself?

    1. I have the Kobe 9 EM and that’s how it is with just the foam. I used to have the Lebron 11 and those had a little texture on top that felt like a sock liner almost. With the Kobe 9 (Seen in my avatar), I bought the perfect fit for me and I don’t have slippage issues.

  8. Just bought the Kobe 9 EM, but saw these in the store too. Should have asked to try them on to get my own side by side comparison but i felt the store was too packed.

What is the weight comparison between the two? Any other comparisons you could make?

    Thanks

    1. I went into my local house of hoops yesterday and tried the kb9 and these on side by side. They felt almost the same . The kb9’s upper was a bit softer, but not good enough to justify me spending $60 more for them. The kb mentality is very comfortable, and the materials feel nice for the price. I would definitely suggests picking these up.

  9. Fantastic shoe. Purchased the black/red/white versions off EastBay when they dropped after New Years (nicely discounted of course). Just copped the purple/black/maize from my local Footlocker (full price but $100 for such a great shoe is acceptable). The Kobe V was by far my favorite in the Kobe line and these are really reminiscent of those in many ways. Really looking forward to whichever color schemes release over 2015.
