Nike Basketball Launches the Zoom Assersion

Nike Basketball just released another budget model that’s been dubbed the Zoom Assersion.

Sporting a textile upper, fuse overlays, forefoot Zoom Air, and an interesting traction pattern, the tech spec description sounds nearly identical to the recently released Nike Zoom Shift.

The Nike Zoom Assersion retails for $80 rather than the $100 that the Zoom Shift is listed at which makes us wonder why Nike competes with itself in such a way — diluting the brand to the point where your budget lines are competing against themselves. It’s a competition where seemingly neither model wins as they’ll both end up at outlets with steep discounts. Isn’t it wasted recourses and development on a couple of models when you could have just released one of them and had moderate success at retail?

The Kyrie 3 take-down model is currently available now in two colorways, both of which look great aesthetically, and more promising on-court than the Zoom Shift. Look for these to start hitting lower tier Nike Basketball accounts now and you can find each of these colorways available online at Nike.com.

Feel free to share your thoughts on the model and possible dilution of the Nike brand below in the comment section. We’d love to hear what you think about the subject.

  1. Love how the black-white colorway looks. The style really is a reminiscent of the Kyrie 3 (maybe even more comfortable) and the reverse swoos is just something that adds some kind of unique style. If these play like the Zoom Live then will be a bang for your buck.

    1. Just saw at wss and tried on was looking for kd Trey 5v but now want this.. on clean store floor felt glued was so shocking, and feels good on arch, have sciatica on right foot so might clip the top part a little on strap to make more room to loosen but is nice.. A bit long for size keep eye out if considering

  2. These are sexy, can’t lie…wouldn’t mind a pair of these (as well as those white PG’s and new HD lows)

  3. Here in Chile the signature lines are way too expensive. Kyrie 3s are between $120-160USD and KD 9s are still the equivalent to $170USD at the Nike stores so something like these will be something like 85-90usd.
