2018 marks 30 years of Nike’s Air Max technology. To celebrate, Nike has been combining several of its popular model to create new hybrids like this Air Max 90/1.
The Nike Air Max 90/1 is an homage to the classic Air Max 1 ‘University Red’. It features an Air Max 1 upper done up entirely in leather, instead of the usual mesh and nubuck build, and rides atop Air Max 90 tooling.
There is no official word yet on why Nike has combined the Air Max 1 and Air Max 90, but the brand has been combining several of its popular models over the past two years.
The Air VaporMax 97 is a fusion of the Air VaporMax Flyknit and Air Max 97; the Air VaporMax Plus uses the upper of the Air Max Plus (Tuned Air) and the full-length VaporMax tooling from the Air VaporMax Flyknit; the Air More Money is a combination of the Air Money’s upper and the Air More Uptempo’s tooling; and last year, Nike swapped the uppers of the Air Max Plus and Air Max 97 to create the Air Max 97 Plus and Air Max Plus 97.
According to US11, the Nike Air Max 90/1 is expected to release on April 28. No pricing information has been announced.
