Nike Air broke onto the scene in 1979 and it will be sticking around for the foreseeable future.
It seems like the VaporMax Air unit was just the beginning of something new.
Leaked by 2muchsol3, this new Air unit seems to draw inspiration from the VaporMax and the concept of adidas’ Tubular tooling (wherein the tooling only needed to support the foot around the edges). It also continues to build atop the tooling the LeBron 15 uses.
The sneakers pictured here seem ready to run in with well-ventilated uppers and Flywire support.
There is no official word yet on what this new Air unit will be called or how it will be implemented — 2018 is still a ways away.
The Nike Air Max 270 also uses a new Air unit, and it should arrive sometime in 2018.
