According to Asics, the Asics GT-DS silhouette is a hybrid based on the original design of the GT-II model that launched in in 1986.
The construction of the upper is relatively the same to the GT-IIs traditional mold. However, the Asics GT-DS utilizes components from the Gel-DS Trainer in order to create a shoe with style and comfort in mind.
Between us, I think we can agree that the Asics GT-DS features a similar heel cage to what is found on some of the Nike Huarache line. With that line’s incredible success, it only makes sense for Asics to try and create a product within that category.
The Asics GT-DS features a mostly neoprene bootie upper with open mesh at the forefoot and a reinforced Fuse-like toewrap. This latest Asics model should be comfortable on foot, and underfoot, due to the Japanese brand’s tried and true cushioning systems. Also, if the Huarache line is too narrow for your feet (wide footers know the struggle) the Asics GT-DS should be better, as most Asics models aren’t cut narrow.
The new Asics GT-Ds is available in five colorways, in sizes US men’s 4-14 and US women’s 5.5-15.5, now at AsicsTiger.com. The three monochromatic colorways will run you $100 each while the two more eclectic colorways retail for $110. You check them out by clicking here.
