My Top 5 Performance Aspects to Look Forward to in The Nike Zoom Hyperrev

My Top 5 Performance Aspects to Look Forward to in The Nike Zoom Hyperrev 5

5. Traction

The traction was one of the initial issues I had when I first saw the catalog images as it wasn’t perfectly clear that the midsole and outsole were two separate components. Luckily, they are… so we shouldn’t have any huge issues there. Could the traction pattern have some potential flaws? Yes… it looks great for lateral coverage but front to back starts or stops could be too much for the pattern to handle on all court conditions. This type of lateral coverage worked great for the Hyperdunk 2013 but those featured herringbone which is fairly multi-directional on its own so we’ll have to wait and see how this ends up working out since it seems to focus primarily on lateral movements.

  1. Do you think the zoom in these will be paper think like in the zoom revis’s or like the zoom in the lebron 10s

  2. I’m looking forward to shoe. I just hope the zoom is responsive enough. The new high top / low top feel intrigues me. It makes feel as if the Kobe 9’s may feel the same with the proprioceptive feel but at a higher price point. If that’s the case I may not be in a hurry to purchase the 9 elites

  3. Why do you think nike is holding back on the max zoom ? It was great in the lebron X but they were the only basketball shoe to feature it, hyperflights were just sportswear shoes. I think that they should implement it in the hyperposite 2014s but the sample images of those showed airmax.

      1. So Kyrie Irving will be playing in these shoes as opposed to the hyperdunks because I will get these instead of those to honor my favorite player in the league

  4. maybe you re right , i didnt notice the midsole in this photo. Hyperrev looks like a combination of nikes past models.. kobe 8 (mesh), kobe 1 (collar), kd V (logo n shape) and huarache 2k4’s (strap) and full length zoom is one of the best cushions nike has…

  5. But why make a Phylite midsole since zoom isn’t very flexible at all, especially because it’s full length zoom?

  6. Zoom is very flexible, the stiffness comes from the other materials like the upper or the midsole. Nightwing has said before that the reason some shoes with full length Zoom don’t flex much like foamposites are because of the stiff materials from the double lasted midsole. Also a lack of flex grooves and the type of rubber used can affect flexiblity. Its been a long time since Nike put full length Zoom in a modern basketball shoe then again the Lebron XIs have full length Zoom but even those have a double lasted midsole, however the newer foamposite is more flexible and gets more flexible as you break them in and the lunarlon in the Zoom insole also helps with flexibility.

    1. Another factor that can affect the overall flexibility is the thickness and type of foam that encases the zoom unit. But phylite is very flexible since its used on Nike Free shoes. The only thing I’m really concerned about is the traction I hope play similar to the hyperdunk 2013 and the CrazyQuick.

  7. I’m guessing that, even though there’s a lot of tech, it will be in the lower range. easily < $150. hopefully < $120

  8. These just got released here a day ago, tried them on and I realised the laces only reach up to the midfoot area(just the last eyelet visible in the picture). Do you see this as a potential lockdown issue?
