The 20th anniversary year of the Reebok Question is winding down but not without a couple bangers. The latest collab is the Melody Ehsani x Reebok Question Mid and it shifts the focus from Allen Iverson to the strong women in his life that have helped him throughout his career.
The campaign for this Question went the extra mile by incorporating Iverson’s daughters, Messiah, Tiaura, Dream, and their mother Tawanna Iverson, to showcase this women’s version of an iconic basketball sneaker. Shot by Iverson’s long-time photographer Gary Land in Charlotte, NC, and creative directed by Melody Ehsani, the campaign pushes a monotone aesthetic and dope sweats to flaunt the sneaker.
“Aside from being one of the greatest players, Iverson to me more so was a cultural leader and game changer, so I made sure to embody some of those elements into the shoe,” says designer Melody Eshani.
According to Reebok, the Melody Ehsani x Reebok Question Mid utilizes three different types of color-matched leather to construct the upper, quarter, and heel in order to create dimension on the tonal design. The usual Question Mid tongue has been swapped for a luxuriously padded leather one that features an embossed replica of A.I.’s “Hold My Own” tattoo. A unique detail is the Velcro portion of the heel that allows you to rock leather patch designs of three of his other tattoos. The sockliner flaunts a paisley print that nods to Iverson’s usual bandana while the interior lining features an image of Allen’s cornrows. The toe cap is done in patent leather and the entire shoe sits atop an icy blue outsole as an homage to the original Question. Two lace options will be available: tonal vegetable tan and a bungee-inspired black and vegetable tan lace.
The Melody Ehsani x Reebok Question Mid will hit retail shelves Friday, December 2, for $160 at Melody Ehsani’s LA store at 424 1/2 N Fairfax Ave. It will drop online at MelodyEhsani.com and Reebok.com the same day.
