Maison Kitsuné Enlists the Brandblack Aura and Tabi for FW18 Collaborative Collection

Los Angeles-based brand Brandblack has linked with world-renowned Parisian brand Maison Kitsuné to create four playful footwear styles.

This FW18 collection uses geek-inspired heather knits and applies a seasonal color palette to two of Brandblack’s signature silhouettes, the strappy Tabi sock-sandal and the modern Aura sneaker. Meant to illustrate the balance between retro and future, the footwear will come in two builds for men and two builds for women.

The Brandblack Aura features full-grain Nappa leather and suede panels that wrap over a contemporary flat-knit sock upper. It rides atop the chunky Vibram RollinGait System for excellent transition and support and is secured with a TPU speed lacing system. The Maison Kitsuné x Brandblack Aura ($280) for men flaunts green, grey, and red while the women’s build uses splashes of pink and burgundy.

The Parisian brand, whose name translates to “Fox House” (“maison” is house in French while “kitsuné” means fox in Japanese), has given the Brandblack Tabi a black, grey, and burgundy look for men while the women’s version gets a colorful red, burgundy, and yellow colorway. The Maison Kitsuné x Brandblack Tabi ($230) features a water-resistant 360-degree tubular knit that rides atop Vibram outsoles. The iconic Maison Kitsuné fox hits the heels.

The Brandblack x Maison Kitsuné footwear collection releases on September 1 at www.maisonkitsune.fr, in Maison Kitsuné stores, and at authorized retailers. Expect the pieces to be very limited. You can check out the entire Maison Kitsuné FW18 menswear collection at Vogue.
