Kobe Bryant’s Latest Nike Kobe AD Gets Confirmed Tech Specs

While Nightwing2303 was pretty spot on in his Official Look/First Impressions of the upcoming Nike Kobe AD, we know many are still eager for confirmed tech specs. Well, Nike has finally given us something to work with, albeit a very small taste.

The upcoming Nike Kobe AD launch has surfaced on Nike SNKRS and with that come just a few tech specs, and its official name — simply another Kobe AD, not the Kobe AD Exodus. Although speculation of cushioning has run rampant (React? Full-length Zoom? A combination of the two?) here is what Nike has to say about the Nike Kobe AD releasing on August 24, aka Mamba Day:

“While they say there’s no ‘I’ in team, Kobe knows the ‘I’ is in victory. Designed for those that place winning over everything, the Kobe A.D. has a full-length mesh bootie that supports the ability to stay locked into a Mamba Mentality all game long. With a Zoom Air Unit that fuels explosiveness and an engineered micro-blade outsole pattern that enhances traction, the Kobe A.D. is made for writing a legacy.”

Here, there is no mention of React or a full-length Zoom Air unit. While both could be possibilities, it isn’t like Nike to miss the opportunity to boast some of its most well-received tech implementations. Our money is with Nightwing’s prediction of the line returning to forefoot Lunar partnered with that heel Zoom Air unit (which can just barely be seen if you look closely).

The Nike Kobe AD ‘Sail/Multicolor’ will be available on August 24 for $140 via Nike SNKRS and at Foot Locker.

What are you thoughts now that Nike has released these minimal details on the sneaker? Be sure to drop a comment down below with your thoughts.

  1. Seems like the materials are cheap but Im thinking these will be a good performer. Hoping traction is durable though (fingers crossed). However, is it just me or Nike is becoming inconsistent with the direction of their lines nowadays?

  2. I’m guessing the setup here could be pretty similar to the Nike Kobe X? I mean that one still had pretty decent cushioning, so if they intend to use heel Zoom Air combined with forefoot Lunarlon or React, I think that cushioning here will be adequate.

  3. “While they say there’s no ‘I’ in team, Kobe knows the ‘I’ is in victory. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! STOP! PLEASE! YOU’RE KILLING ME! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *whew*

  4. The setup makes it a “Kobe 10-B” to me, but with a better upper material. I do believe the lockdown will be good, but I don’t think the traction’s gonna hold up fine. Being a forefoot striker, knowing that it’ll come with a heel zoom unit saddens me. Might be adequate, but, where are you React?

  5. Its more likely to be lunarlon than react. Nike would want to show off and state that this is react if the shoe had it. Its their most buzzworthy new tech right now and it would get people’s attention. They might be kinda embarassed its lunar, since it would be a buzzkill to say it now. They might just leave it a mystery til close to launch.
