Picasso was known for his art-changing tactics. Kickasso is known for his shoe-changing artwork, and now, he has created his own K_o Brand sneakers.
Just as Picasso did, Kickasso enjoys changing the world with his art. Whether on shoes, cleats, or other equipment, the designs help show the character and inner personality of the shoe wearer.
Roughly a year ago, K_o Brand announced plans to start a brand with two lifestyle sneakers, a hightop and a lowtop, and a cleat. Now, Kickasso is putting the finishing touches on his new shop, located just four blocks from the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, and his sneakers are set to release on March 4.
Before we get going on the actual footwear, here’s a short background on Kickasso and the development of the K_o brand.
Kickasso began by customizing sneakers and slides, incorporating different designs to fit a wide variety of sneakerheads. Drawing the attention of sneaker enthusiasts worldwide, he began to gain the attention of professional athlete. After customizing shoes for star athletes, Kickasso solidified his name in the space.
Shortly thereafter, Kickasso expanded his business and entered the cleat game. By putting his artwork on custom football and soccer cleats, Kickasso began to show athletes and fans alike what kind of style could be brought to the field. At times, he even threw in some pretty sweet looking gloves. Enter OBJ.
If you’re into sneakers, or into football, you’ve probably seen these cleats on Odell Beckham Jr. This custom ‘Joker’ cleat is one of Kickasso’s best-known pieces, and it’s now on display at the Canton Pro Football Hall of Fame. The project put Kickasso on a bigger stage than ever before, and with OBJ’s social media presence people all over the world were tuning in to see what customs were being created every week.
Needless to say, Kickasso earned his spot as one of the best in the custom game. However, he isn’t finished changing the sportswear world just yet. Kickasso has decided to enter the design game and it starts with a line of vegan lifestyle sneakers.
The Kickasso K_o 1 ($145) puts a new spin on the sleek, minimal sneakers that have gained popularity in the last few years. Designed mainly for comfort and lifestyle wear, the hightop version includes a more traditional mesh look, with a fused “K” and “O” on the forefront of the shoe. The K_o 1 uses the “Spider Lacing System,” a no-tie system that connects the base of the shoe with the forefoot for support. The K_o 1 also comes in a lowtop ($145).
The K_o Stitch Low ($130) flaunts several multi-colored stitched panels for a unique “crafted” aesthetic. The shoe uses a smilar lacing system to that of the K_o 1 but it anchors at both sides of the foot. While the brand doesn’t mention what the shoe’s tooling is made of, it is likely EVA.
You can pre-order all of Kickasso’s sneaker now at his website until February 18. Each sneaker is individually numbered and limited to just 500 pairs. With a cleat also in the works, Kickasso is looking to make a difference in performance equipment.
