Jordan Trunner NXT React

Jordan Brand plans on bringing back the Trunner line.

Training for the upcoming season or training throughout the season, Jordan Brand is looking to offer premium running/training (Trunner) footwear to suit athletes needs.

Some may wonder “why enter this market when there are brands like Nike, adidas, Under Armour etc. offering footwear products that do the same thing?” Which, the answer to that particular question is “why wouldn’t a brand want to reach its consumers in all aspects of sport and performance?”

Nike didn’t start and end with running shoes; they branched out and are now the number one performance brand in the world. While the Trunner may not be the model to push Jordan Brand over the edge in such grand fashion, it’s a start in the general direction of providing athletes that wear Jordan Brand products to always wear Jordan Brand products. Will the brand’s consumers be down for the cause? That’s the real question and I wonder how consumers will respond.

The Trunner NXT React looks like it’s trying to take care of current off-court style with modern training performance as the shoe features Nike’s popular React cushioning while sharing similar design language to the Swoosh’s current running line such as the Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo, Nike Zoom Fly and Air Zoom Vomero 14. This new Trunner seems to veer away from traditional Jordan Brand DNA — something I’m not fond of, but if the reception from its recently released Jordan Proto-React has shown me anything, it’s that the current generation may prefer it that way.

Release date and pricing for the Jordan Trunner NXT React are currently unknown, but they may become available this Spring/Summer — perfect timing for the off-season.

Let us know what you think about the revamped Jordan Trunner line. Is this something that the majority of Jordan Brand fans will accept and appreciate or do you think the brand should remain pigeonholed within the basketball and Retro world, never branching itself out to other categories?

  1. Maybe it’s the colorway but this has to be the fugliest shoe i have ever seen. The heel is atrocious. Has to be the worst looking shoe ever in my book

  2. I think for Jordan Brand to branch out they need to force change in ways. Only selling retros in limited fashion in previous years helped them pigeon hole themselves. They just need to try and make the best performing models again (even in running, training etc)

  3. I’m going to need to see these in person. I think this was what Tinker was wearing in an interview last year and i liked the color way he was rocking. From the pics I feel the shoes are a slimmed down version of the air monarch. not sure how i feel about that but i’ll see what other colorways come out.
